Israt Care Givers, offer health professionals a great place to work and
Families a great place to find high quality health care.
It is often said that Personal Support Workers are the back bone of the health care system and in no place is this more true than in home and community care. Care Givers Personal Support Workers provide care for patients across the province in homes, retirement homes and shared care settings.
Our patients tell us over and over that the care they receive from their Personal Support Workers is the most important part of their health care services. PSWs assist patients to get all the day-to day-things done that are essential for good health but that the patients may no longer be able to do safely for themselves.
Care Givers, help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, light housekeeping, exercising and medications. Sometimes Personal Support Workers receive additional training from Care Givers to perform skilled tasks such as administering insulin or using a glucose meter.
Care Givers, are also very important in providing relief for families who need a break from providing care for an ill family member. Many of Care Givers,PSWs have additional training in caring for a person living with dementia so that families who need time away to refresh can be sure their loved one with dementia is in good hands.
